Hi all,

I would like to chain Artemis with Telemac2D and Sisyphe and wanted to ask a couple of questions:

1. Is it is possible to do it using different meshes for Artemis and Telemac2D-Sisyphe (in order to reduce computation time for Telemac2D-Sisyphe). The aim is to interpolate the results of Artemis into the mesh used by Telemac2D automatically. Is there a routine in Telemac system that I can start from?

2. Is it possible to take account the effects of waves (results from Artemis) in Sisyphe? I tried specifying the Artemis results file but Sisyphe would not accept it as valid because it couldn't find the variables it needs (especially the Peak Period that cannot be output as a result in Artemis).

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Costas

Dear Costas,
The coupling between ART-T2D-SIS is not implemented in the TMS. We are planning to work on this functionality during this year (implementation + verification/validation).

all the best,

Hi Pablo,

So, at the moment, Sisyphe cannot take waves (Artemis) into account when calculating sediment transport. :-(

I am looking forward to the coupling. I am particularly interested in the diffraction capabilities of Artemis (that aren't sufficiently modeled by Tomawac).

Costas

Hi Pablo,

Using Artemis for modeling coastal littoral transport gives quite unexpected results, compared to tomawac. It seems that the effect of waves is sisyphe has a significant impact.

It looks to me that Artemis, since it cannot fulfill this requirement, should not be used for littoral transport calculations and I have to rely only on tomawac for this purpose (at least at this development stage). Is that true?

Costas

Dear Costas,
I'm in agreement with your remark. Tomawak is prepared to solve the larger, littoral transport scale. Artemis solves the hydrodynamics at the "local" scale.
Probably people working with both modules could add more insight on this issue.

All the best,

Pablo

Hello,

I have a project coming in the future that requires the investigation of wave reflection effects in sediment transport that suits perfect to the Artemis description, bar the "Wave effects' issue that was discussed earlier.

I wanted to ask if there has been any development in this matter that would enable Artemis to be applied for this purpose?

In the meantime, I am putting effort in compiling MUMPS for Windows, to enable a (fast) parallel solver, so that the coupling/chaining interval can be reasonably small.

Best regards,
Costas

Hello,

Trying to setup the chaining loop between the three, I specified the Sisyphe results file (that contains the BOTTOM variable) so that the next Artemis run will take into account the evolved seabed. My Sisyphe results contain several timesteps and Artemis doesn't seem to have any problem with that. The question is:

Which timestep does Artemis read?
