I'm a new user of Bluekenue Software and i need some help.

well , i have a set of points (x,y,z), z is the elevation. I want to create an adaptative mesh from that set of points.
Is it necessary to have cross sections?

Is it necessary to set openlines?

if anyone wouldn't mind helping me , it would be great

Cheers

Adam

Hello,

at the Telemac website you will find some really good tutorials how to create a mesh, assigning elevation data to mesh nodes, etc.

Best regards,
Clemens

Hi Adam,

You will have to be more specific with your question.
An illustration is always helpful.

Dear Mr Martin;

As you suggest i enclosed my project on bluekenue you may have a look ,

My question is how to get more accurate results ,i want a mesh with grid cells size depending on the elevation

what i have is a XYZ file of a river , Z is representing the surface elevation

Please feel free to let me know if it's clear...

i could not add my project because of its size , you will find below a screen shot of my resulting mesh

Hi Adam,

What you need to do is convert the Z values of your pointset from "units of elevation" to "units of edge-length" and provide these to the mesh generator as a density object. (Remember to set a minimum threshold)

I would suggest that you resample your pointset to reduce the number of points though. If the supplied image shows your approximate desired element size and the underlying colours are your pointset then the pointset is way too dense.

The mesher will interpolate a target edgelength from the pointset.

Hope this helps... Martin

Hi Martin;

how to convert in edgelength units i tried what you suggest but the result did not show up as i want i did for instance i have a depth scaling for each depth contour for e.g i assign an edgelength
the new bathymetry =( (edgelength(surface)-edgelength(bottom))/(z(bottom)-z(surface)))*bathymetry + 1
when i assign this new function , if i run the meshgenerator i should set a edge growth ratio or not?

and then in the mesh generator i use the same set of points (it tooks a long time to compute) with a default edgelength of 1

The values changes but the grid cells size did not?

what do you think would be the problem?

cheers ..Adam

Hi Adam,

What is the range of values of your new edgeLength mesh?

If your t3m file is too big to attach here then can you put it on a dropbox or google drive site for me to pick up?

Cheers... Martin
