Hi,
I meet an issue when I try to map my mesh on BlueKenue with an Interpolator 2D in which I place several layers including one corresponding to a cloud of points with the z, another to curves with contour lines and finally a last one corresponding to the shape layer of the edge of my channel (for witch I select the data z).

It doesn't work properly because it seems that the mapping doesn't take into consideration the z of the shape layer. And when i just use my cloud of points it works good but if I do a cross section I notice that the z is at 0 on the banks of my canal.

How can i do to set the z for the banks of the canal include in my mesh ?

I enclose a picture of my mesh and the cross section.

Which version of Blue Kenue?

Can you provide a few other screenshots to help troubleshooting; one for your workspace and one for each of the object's properties; in particular their attribute information...

Kindly,
Alan

Hi,
I use the version 3.3.4. I tryed the latest alpha version but it bugs when I try to create selafin objet and for other things too so I work with the 3.3.4.

Here you can find screenshots of my workspace and the attribute information of main objet used for the mesh.

Kindly,

I don't see anything obvious from your screen snapshots; thanks for taking the time to send them

My predecessor released 3.3.4 and so I have the assumption that BK would work in most cases. I have made releases after that one and have made quite a few underlying changes which is likely why the latest alpha is not working for you in the same way as 3.3.4. By the way, any fixes that I do make will appear as a new alpha... just so that we are clear... and... by the way, have you had a look at the CHyMS FAQ that I pointed you to a while ago? I'm curious how useful that was for you...

For this current issue, please pass me a minimal example (with data and steps to reproduce) and what you expect to happen. This will allow me to sort out the chalk from the cheese and dig into the 300,000 lines of code at some point when I have a little "spare" time (today is a holiday for me)... and... as always... the more information you can share and the more detailed and the better the minimal example then the easier it will be for me to help you (and everyone else using BK) and fix the issue in the latest alpha...

Thank you; I appreciate your time and sorry for the inconvenience this is causing

Kindly,
Alan

Hi,
Thank you for your answer and your time.
I've to admit that I didn't take time to visit the ChyMS FAQ as you suggested me to do a while ago.

For my project I finally transformed the polygons representing the banks into polylines and created a semi topographic point to fix the altitude of the banks of the canal. As you can see on the attached figure the cross section is closer to reality.

I also attach a.zip file including the polygon edges, the and the semi point layer used for z interpolation. My first mesh framed the canal with a density of 1 m and a higher density of 0.2 m around the banks.

Kindly

Thank you... it is helpful to have the zip file. A couple of further points if you are willing to go down the rabbit hole with me... I am using the latest alpha...
  1. Importing the shp file reports a warning that the dbf file is not found. Do you have all of the ancillary files "associated" with the shp file that you could also share with me so that I can load it without warnings?
  2. There seems to be an issue with the *.tb0 file... did it open correctly for you in BK 3.3.4?
  3. I think it is great that you got it to work for you. Well done ;) However, I am more interested in what was not working as per your first post. I would like to get to a point where I can replicate what you saw. I would like to be able to replicate it on my machine using the latest alpha. Then I have a hope at trying to fix whatever might have been broken. Can you please give me step-by-step instructions about what you did so that I can reproduce your situation? I want to be able to follow your instructions and then observe the 0 "spikes" that you observed for the cross-section. I am asking because I am still learning and need help from you in that regard ;)

Thanks for the clarifications and further discussion...

Kindly,
Alan
