I wanted to use a Selafin file created with blue kenue in Fudaa to create a new Telemac project but I got an error message: point number 7914 has no neighbour.
I used a polygon shapefile from arcview as boundary to create a mesh. Then I managed to interpolate a bathymetry onto this mesh as discussed elsewhere on this forum. I opened a new selafin file in Blue Kenue and added the polygon as boundary and the mesh. I saved it (big-endian). Then I tried to open this in Fudaa and got the error message.
Can I use the polygon as boundary file? Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong here?

Any help is welcome

Thanks,
Sven

Hello,

I don't know exactly how to create the boundary file with Blue Kenue but in Blue Kenue I add only the mesh to the selafin file (big endian) and in the Supervisor Fudaa PrePro right click on the mesh file *.slf -> (Ouvrir avec ->)create telemac project. Then In the Mesh Viewer of Fudaa PrePro it is quite simple to specify all the necessary boundaries.

Hope it helps.

Regards,
Clemens

Hi Clemens,

You should only add the mesh layer to the SLF (no boundary polygon of any sort is necessary), the outside nodes constitute the boundary. As for the boundary file, it is not possible (yet) to create that file with Blue Kenue. I hope this will be a new feature. The procedure in Fudaa-prepro explained by Sven works for me. If that stil doesn't work, you might want to try to check the quality of your mesh in the Mesh Analysis tabs and see where and what node 7914 looks like...

While we're at it, do you know of anyone that is actually working with little-endian selafin files? If not, I think it might be interesting for BK to save as big-endian by default. It would probably be a time saver for some of us that keep forgetting to select the option.

Hi Jeremie,

maybe you confused Sven with me.

No, I don't know anyone who is working with little-endian selafin files. Yes, this default saving option would be great.
However I only know me as real person who is working with Telemac. (A solitary man ...) B)

Jeremie and Clemens,

thanks for your quick responses. I still have problems with the use of the BlueKenue mesh. The quality of the mesh is not good enough. Creating a telemac file with it gives errors telling me that some nodes don't have a neighbour. I think my contourline still contains too small features. I contrary to Matisse, Blue Kenue doesn't adjust the mesh size to the contour line. A certain density given inside a polygon will be stricktly held by the program, where Matisse adjusts the density close to small features in the contour line.

I can solve this I think by redifining the density polygons and roughening the contour line.
In the meanwhile I created a rough model in Matisse. I will try to use Blue Kenue later.

Thanks for the support

Sven

Hi Sven,

There is a menu item that might help you.
Edit->T3Mesh->Delete Unused Nodes.

You are right, Blue Kenue adjusts element size according to the supplied density objects and NOT the SoftLines. Hard Lines and Hard Points on the other hand DO have an influence on element size.

Cheers... Martin
