Hello everyone

I was wondering if it was possible to export a mesh straight from BK to Arcgis (or other SIG)?
I know it can be exported from FUDAA/POST but you have first to create all the specific files (selafin, cas, ser, conlim, ...) and getting it from BK would make it easier to do quick checks or shapes modifications.

Thanks and have a nice week-end.

Hello,

an indirect way to export BK mesh to GIS is to save it as an .xyz file

You can do this in BK by clicking the button "Save copy as" and choose .xyz file

Both pointsets and linesets can be exported as ArcGIS shape files.

So extract Iso-lines from a mesh or the points (as mentioned previously then use "File->Save Copy As"

see: "Tools->Extract IsoLines"
and: "Tools->Extract Points"

Hi again,

It is also possible to map results to a regular grid and then save that as a GeoTIFF file for viewing in a GIS.

So:
1. Define a grid that covers your area of interest. "File->New->Regular Grid"
2. Use "Tools->MapObject" to map data from the triangular mesh to the regular grid.
3. Lastly use "File->Save As" to save the regular grid to a GeoTIFF.

Cheers... Martin

Thought I'd add to this as I've just come across another way of doing this.
You can save a mesh as a shapefile using Quickplot, which comes with the Delft3D pacakge. It can open the selafin format, and then you just save as shapefile. It's a bit more of an effort to install a new bit of software, but I'm found quickplot really useful to do vertical cross sections of 3D results as well
