TOPIC: Problem with mesh generation

Hi everybody!

I have to study a case of flood propagation and I am preparing a mesh.
I traced two open lines for the right and the left bank, as I'm used to do.
I opened a T3 channel mesher and put the banks into their respective places.
The problem takes place when I push the bottom run: no mesh is generated and no error is given. Nothing happens.
How is it possible? The DEM I'm using is just a 90x and it's the only one I have: is this a possible problem? In this case I wouldn't know how to move.

Thank you in advance for your answers :)

Hello

I see that your domain dimensions are very small 19.34 to 19.48, verify the lenght of elements you want to generate (by default BK suggests 1m which is too big for your case). adapt this value and it will probably work.

with my best regards

Hi riadh!

Thank you for have solving my problem :) I have set 0.001 as "along channel interval" and now it works!

By the way, I see that in "Analyze mesh" is written that there are elements with minimum and maximum area equal to 0. Since I know that this problem generates the error "negative determinant" in running Telemac 2D, do you know if is possible to solve this problem now? I just have to try to modify the value of "along channel interval" and "cross channel node count" until all areas are major than zero or there are some good parameters to use?

Thanks a lot!

Hello

try to save your mesh with double precision, This allows to handle more accuraletly very small reals.

Thank you riadh, but how can I save a mesh in double precision?

These are the outputs I have had realizing my mesh: 2D vision seems to be quite acceptable, while 3D meaning is uncomprehensible...

Thank you again,
Flavio

Sorry, I solved my problem just by changing the scale. Thank you :)

Are you sure you want to work in spherical coordinates for such a small area?
I suggest you transform your source data to something like UTM, Albers or LambertConformal.

Martin

BTW: Blue Kenue doesn't support double precision selafin files yet.

Hi serrer,
thank you for your suggestion. I would like to know better what you mean, because I'm having big problems with my mesh. Every cross channel node count or along channel interval value I take, I always have some elements with area equal to 0 (with obviously the error "negative determinant" running Telemac 2D). Besides, also the maximum areas result equal to 0! I think the reason is that these values are << 0.1, so BlueKenue is not able to read them. Is it true? How can I do?
Thank you in advance.

To complete my question, here there is the analyze of the mesh.

Hope it helps to help me :)
