Is it possible to add a local projection to Bluekenue? I'd like to do some PSed modelling but the model won't run without a grid projection.

I'm from New Zealand so most of the estuary and river modelling is done to local projections because WGS, lat/long projections gives a distorted appearance.

Most commonly used projections used are Transverse Mercator projection and are based on the NZGD2000 datum such as NZTM:

I'm just learning this stuff, but I don't see a way to import a custom projection in BlueKenue. Did you see anything in the manual?

Your NZ mesh area (Queen Charlotte Sound - Grove Arm) is only about ~60-70 km across. Would it look too unreasonable compared to your local standard if you used say UTM + WGS84 (this type of display would work well in an international scientific publication)?

Within BlueKenue, the "LambertConformal" and "Albers" projections appear to have the most options for customization.

Well, whatever your project is, it looks interesting. I'm a Canadian grad student working on some sediment transport questions in a somewhat geologically and oceanographically similar region of the British Columbia-Washington State coast. I've read a bit about the Cook Strait region recently.
