Hello amanj,

It seems that you have some dependencies regarding the loader (missing dll for example).

Please try with the loader enclosed (reduced number of dependencies).

If this still does not work, I invite you to recompile the loader from within your Windows 8 environment.

Please let me know if this helps.

Best,

Antoine

hello Antoine

The sera.dll doesn't work on my pc as well. The same message as above shows up.
I, too, have a windows 8 environment.
How do you recompile the loader (step-by-step)?
thanks

Hi,

We are currently looking into this issue, it may be due to lacking redistributable.

May I ask you to use a dependency walker (you can download it here: www.dependencywalker.com/).

Just launch the executable, drag the serafin64.dll file in it, and send us the dependency walker image file(File->Save use .dwi format).

We will hence recompile it and make it available.

Thank you for your help and sorry for the delays.

Regards,

Antoine

Dear Amanj, dear Holinger,
the issue was indeed due to a lack of redistributable and a dependency to debug dll.

We recompiled it for Windows 8.
In order to make it work, you must download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86), here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387

Then install the enclosed loader.

Please let me know if this works.

Best regards,

Antoine

A quick complement of information:
beware the dlls of Visual C++ package will be installed into the WinSxS (assembly cache) directory.
You must either copy the msvcr80.dll into your Tecplot/Bin directory or add the Path to the msvcr80.dll to the PATH environment variable.

Hi!

It would have been interesting to see how one can extract 2D cross sections from a 3D result file, and the options for visualizing vectors (at nodes, on a user-defined gid?, ...).

I have been testing Paraview for a while, and the main inconvenient was that it is hard to handle the visualization of such 2D slices in a proper way, without starting to script. Would have been interesting to compare with Tecplot.

Best regards
PL
