Hi, I am new with Telemac. I just started using it today as it took me I while to install it. I am trying to create a simple Telemac2D model of a lake. I have downloaded Bluekenue and Fudaa-Prepro. I managed to create a rectangular mesh on Bluekenue but I cannot see in the Telemac2D or Bluekenue manuals how to export this into a Geometry file supported format (Serafin, *.sfl).

If you can give me a hint on this I will be very grateful.

Best regards

Hi,

By rectangular mesh, do you mean file->new->regular grid ?
Telemac is based on triangular elements, you can't export a regular grid into a geometry file..
Try instead file->new->T3 mesh generator

Please refer to Chapter 2 in the Blue Kenue Reference manual.

Thank you! I created the triangular mesh in Blue Kenue but I still need to convert it into a telemac2D readable format. Blue Kenue gives me the options to save it as *.t3s, *.xyz and other formats that are not those required by telemac2D (SERAFIN, SERAFIND or MED).

I saw python scripts that may be for that but I can't find instructions to use them to convert the files.

If you could point me where to look for these instructions I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

The easiest way is to create a new selafin object by: "File->New->SELAFIN Object" and then to select your *.t3s object in the workspace and drag it into the new selafin object. Then you'll be able to save it as a selafin file.

The Telemac-2D tutorial may also be helpful www.opentelemac.org/index.php/training-and-tutorials. It includes step-by-step instruction on creating a tel2d model from scratch.

I would always check whether there is existing tool in BlueKenue before resorting to a script.
