open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

I just stared working with Telemac2d.

I set up a mesh and boundary conditions for a small part of the English Channel in WGS84 (spheric coordinates) using Salome HYDRO. The mesh is a MED-file and it's attached to the topic, as well as the boundary conditions file.

I would like to model the tides within this area using TPXO data (European Shelf). It seems that I am missing something, because there is no tide at all and the Channel seems to be emptying itself.
Maybe the problem is, that i work with spheric coordinates ?

In your case, you should have GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM = 5 rather than 1 because it is the geographic system before the interpolation of the tidal constituents in TELEMAC-2D, which should be given. In your case, the longitudes/latitudes with SPHERICAL COORDINATES = YES are converted into a plane projection in Mercator coordinates (GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM = 5).

Anyway, you should refine your mesh on the liquid boundaries close to the coasts. The transition from the coast to the sea is rather quick with flat triangles in some areas.

Thank you very much Chi-Tuan, it works fine now.

This mesh was just a test-mesh, to set up a simple steering file with a mesh in a MED file, it will be refined for further use.
