how to generate a geo file for a telemac project? 12 years 4 months ago #5087

Hello all,
I am a new to telemac, which is now successfully installed and run by the examples provided by the website. I have two big problems that troubled me for several days--- how to generate a geo file? what contents a geo file includes? because the geo file is obligatory for creating a telemac project. Now I have the DEM data of study area, how can I generate the geo file including the flood plain?

By the way, can someone be kind to upload a geo file of actual case including flood plain? because the example cases are only rivers.

Any help will be appreciated.

Addition: now I can process the DEM data with BlueKenue into serafin file which is presented with mesh, but how can I discriminate the line of the river, the line of the flood plain and other buildings? because all the data are presented in mesh,no boundary, no line.

Again, By the way, can someone be kind to upload a geo file of actual case including flood plain? because the example cases are only rivers.

Many thanks!

Hello,

As far as I know, a serafin file for Fudaa only includes bathymetric data and outlines for mesh generation are discarded. If what you want to know is how to define a geometric file with BlueKenue, you should first have a look at BK's manual which is quite easy to follow.

A simple case:(define a rectangle domain)
0 0
100 0
100 50
0 50
0 0
save this as "xx.i2s", open with BlueKenue then you can generate meshes.

Best regard.

Thanks very much for your reply!

Now I have used BlueKenue to generate the mesh data of the study area. Because I want to simulate the flood process, the outlines of the river and flood plain have to be got. Attached files are the examples others done, now I have the data of the first, but how can I get the data of second?

thank you!

Hello,

I think first of all, you should digitze the first map to get rquired data of all outlines, including rivers, creeks and flood plains. Then a meshing process could be carried out with BlueKenue.
Judging from the second figure, a submesh approach is used in BK. You can mesh rivers or creeks independently then incorporate them into the large domain.
Please refer to manual: p.144.
