Hi,

I want to force a river boundary with time-varying (spatially-constant)flowrates. My flowrate data file containes daily values for decades, so I want to read off a portion of this file (e.g. 2007) and perform interpolation from daily to T2D time step.

What is the best way to do this? Use q.f, or bord.f?
Does anyone have an example of this? - the test cases showing q.f are a bit confusing to me.

Many thanks, Peter

Hello Peter

The easiest way is to use the keyword LIQUID BOUNDARIES FILE. The use of q.f or bord.f is recommanded for liquid boundaries varying in time and space.
Therefore you need to introduce data in the Telemac format like the one given in section 4.2.5 in the user manual. This file looks like:

# Example of open boundaries file
# 2 boundaries managed
#
T Q(1) SL(2)
s m3/s m
0. 0. 135.0
25. 15. 135.2
100. 20. 136.
500. 20. 136.

where 1 and 2 are the bounadry's numbers, Q is the flowrate you want to prescribe and SL is Free surface (Surface Libre en french) to be prescribed also.

I hope that this helps

With my best regards

Thanks a lot Riadh,

(1): So column 1 is time in seconds? - So if I have daily output, I just increment this column in 24x3600=86400 s?

(2): What if I don't know SL? Keep this constant at approximate level?

Thanks again, Peter
