Hello
I am trying to follow the recommendation from this forum about the friction coefficient as listed below. However when I tried to attached the polygon (step 3 below procedure) with the correspond assigned value, this value is not reading during the simulation even though I included the legend friction coefficient in the steering file. Is there any problem with the steps I have been follow? Any recommendations? Thanks

Joel

For simple variable friction coefficient, I use Bluekenue.

1. Draw a closed polygon around a region of your domain that you want a different friction coeff.

2. When your done, assign as elevation of the polygon the value of friction parameter that you want.

3. Create a geo file. Add variable BOTTOM FRICTION and use BK map object function to attach the polygon to BOTTOM FRICTION mesh.

4. Make sure in your cas file you set a value for friction parameter ... If BOTTOM FRICTION is in your geo.slf, you should get a message in the listing telling that friction is read in geo file. The value in cas file will then be ignored but it has to be there because you'll get error msg if not.

Hi

It works well so you probably miss a step.
Could you see in your geometry file the 2 variables (Bottom and Bottom Friction)?

Hello

that's correct I can see in my geometry file the 2 variables however the value I supposed link with a polygon is not working. In other words I set up a friction coefficient value when I created the polygon so by the time I link with the bottom friction variable in the geometry file and I run the simulation, telemac does not identify the value I set up for the polygon area. I have map the polygon with the bottom coefficient variable many times and it still not working.
Thanks

Hello

What is written in the listing of Telemac-2D. Is the friction layer well read of not.
Can you send us your files ?

with my kind regards

Riadh

Hello I already sorted my problem out using BlueKenue

I followed the next steps:

1. Once I created the new variable in the geo.file(bottom friction), I selected bottom friction then tools> map object> (available objects) and I must choose the polygon I created. As a results a command window appear and I selected the Option NO

NO: Means, MAP ALL polygons regardless of point ordering

2. I drag in the Bottom Friction variable to the 2D View and the polygon area I set up a different value appears in different colour.

Thank you
Regards
Joel
