Hi all,

I got a mesh from SMS (.2dm file). Now i want to edit it.

I have to add some buildings. But i don't know how i can edit soft lines in the mesh i got.
Could anyone please tell me how and if it works ?

Or is it possible to consider buildings by choosing a Strickler value of zero.

Thanks in advance!

Julia

Hi,

it depends what you would like to do in yous simulation. If the buildings are never overtopped by water, you can implement them using islands and use the existing mesh as submesh.

There is a very good manual for BK available.

Best regards,
Gabi

Thanks a lot for your answer.

No they won´t get overtopped. But i dont know how i can make it as a submesh if my global mesh is imported from SMS. I studied the user manual but i couldn´t find anything about that.

Hi
You should first convert your mesh into a BK mesh file format.
Then you could manipulate it (cut some part and re-mesh locally)

I converted it to .t3s and mapped it with the line set of the buildings. The result you can see on the attached pic. now i think the mesh is too inaccurate . so there is the next question. how can i change its density in the vicinity of the buildings ? I couldnt find out how to change density of an imported / existing mesh .

Hello

As far as I know, sms format can be read directly from BK. If you are familiar with an other mesher, you should optimize your mesh then export the final result to BK.
Moreover, please use the following tutorial of BK that will give you answers to most of your questions

I hope that this helps

with my best regards

Hi,

I had the same problem with the export of a mesh from SMS(.2dm) in BK.

I can advise you, how to solve it:

The reason for this:BlueKenue can only display information in single-precision. In UTM for example, it does not display sub-meter information correctly.

you don#t have to edit your mesh. This is just a viewing problem, it is quite annoying.
To resolve this at the moment, you can translate your mesh
(in BlueKenue –>Edit->ShiftX/Y)
to a coordinate system that is closer to x=0,y=0 and this removes the single-precision viewing issue.

I hope, that can help you.

Rima
