I have tried post processing Telemac 2d Results in Blue Kenue and telemac plugin in Q-GIS.

I got some problems in presenting velocity vectors spatially in a domain.

1. I have managed to scale down or scale up velocity vectors. In both Blue Kenue and Q-GIS plugin but i had difficulty in spatially distributing the vectors.

2. The velocity vectors appear in every node points in a mesh. As I have a large domain and finer meshes, it is difficult present the results clearly.

3. I want to know is there any option in both these tools that make appear the vectors at specific intervals and not in every node.

4. If there is a option i missed out, you are welcome to point me out.

5. I have a plan to convert the result file to mesh file formats of SMS and MIKE.(I havent tried this for now). If anyone had done it before i want to know whether the converted files are readable in the respective software.

6. If anyone can suggest me on other tools you are welcome.

Thank you all,

Awaiting your suggestions.............

With very kind regards

Hi,

I am not sure about the bk post processing and Alan may have an answer for that, but if you can use Tecplot, yes its possible to choose relative option for velocity vector and in that case the arrow will distribute on the entire domain in a way that can seen for example, at finer area have will not be too dense and in coarse area too less.

Alternatively (in Blue Kenue) you can define a rectangular grid of your preferred resolution and using "Tools->Map Object" map the t3v vectors to this regular grid to create a .r2v object.

NOTE: Be careful about the interpretation of this new vector field as you will have both created and lost resolution.

Dear all

Thank you all for you suggestions

I have tried all your options and I feel processing using tecplot seems to be pretty easier.

With regards

Hello all,

I tried Q GIS newer versions which can directly import selafin files. It is also doing very good job in combination with cray fish plugin. Pretty easier than tecplot.

Thank You all

If you want to show velocity vectors at certain cross-sections like shown in the attached image, You can follow the post below.

From this method, u can also import to tecplot and modify the map as required.
