Hi,

The easiest way to do this is,
-Load the Selafin file into BlueKenue.
-Select a variable and open its Properties dialog.
- Using the assign button on the Spatial tab, launch the coordinate system assign dialog and set the original coordinate system. Push OK
- Then (on the Spatial tab) change the Projection to LambertConformal and supply the appropriate Parameters. Push Apply
- and you're done...

You can save the Selafin variable to an ASCII "t3s" file.

Refer to the section starting on page 26 of the reference manual for CoordinateSystem details.
The organization of the t3s file is documented on page 162

Cheers... Martin

Do you know how I can convert the whole serafin file to ASCII format? I want to convert a mesh created using river2D to the serafin format. If I understand the format of the serafin file it'll help me write the code to produce a serafin file
thanks

Hi
A description of serafin file format is given in the manuals of Telemac2d (for example)
I don't know River2d but maybe some programs are able to convert it into another file format which could be read by Blue Kenue or Fudaa and the those programs allow you to generate easily a telemac mesh

Christophe

Hi

I wrote a small fortan file based on the instructions in the Telemac2d manual. As you will see it is very simple to do in Fortan. I have not done a complete verification of the code as I do most of my post-processing and visualization in MATLAB. There is a wonderful set of scripts written for reading and writing SELAFIN files in MATLAB here: by Thomas Benson..

Cheers
Patrick

pgrover,

Thank you for pointing attention to this very useful MATLAB tool, and also providing your own FORTRAN code.

The link to the MATLAB tool has been added to our page listing external graphical interfaces and pre/post-processing tools:

If you want to convert your River2D grid to the T3S format for Blue Kenue you can do so with the following program. Under the "Output" menu item there is an option to produce the T3S file.

If you don't find the attachment here, it is available at mediafire.com/R2DM
C:\fakepath\River2DM_v7.8.exe

To maximize the benefit to other TELEMAC users might I suggest that you post the source code for this utility instead of just an executable.

Hi Martin
The code would not be useful to anyone since it's part of a huge c++ project that comprises over a hundred files. River2D users don't normally have access to the source code anyway and so the executable should be fine
Best Regards
Steve
BTW I updated the program so that it produces T3S files for velocity u, velocity v, free surface, and bed roughness so that you can create a selafin file containing initial conditions. the new exe file is located at
mediafire.com/r2dm
