Hi Everyone,

I have just started using BlueKenue to create a mesh to analyse the effect of dredging on hydrodynamics in an estuary. However, I can't quite get my head around how to create a dredged channel into the mesh? Is there anywhere that I could find a good example of how to use the channel mesher tool?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi,

use the T3 Mesh Generator of Blue Kenue as discribed in the manual (of Blue Kenue). You can implement a channel by using submeshes or soft line.

I have read through the manual, but I am still uncertain of whether you can specify the depth of the channel?

Thank you

I have attached a simple example that might help
the files are polyline left right polyline with level of 5 and a polyline with level of 4
open these in blue kenue

then under file new select T3channel to create channel mesh newT3ChannelMesh
drag left polyline onto leftbank and right polyline onto right bank then double click on NewT3channelmesh and enter say 7 for crosschannelnodecount and 10 say for alongchannelinterval and click run
this generates a mesh for your channel with no elevations specified.

to specify elevations for this channel I have generated a line of elevation 5 at the upstream end and 4 at the downstream end
to use this data (or whatever data is applicable) go to file and new and triangulation
then drag your data in my case line 5 and line 4 onto the triangulation icon double click on triangulation and click triangulate and click okay

finally select your mesh under newT3Channelmesh and go to tools and select map object and from a list select the triangulation icon and press okay

to create a selafin file go to file new selafin object
then drag mesh onto the newselafin object
and then click mesh under this object and change its name to BOTTOM

I hope this helps
regards
Tony
