Hi all!

I have downloaded the latest version of fudaa, and I have a few questions:

1. What is the new method to follow for computing discharge through a section? The "Q stroke by a thunder" icon seems to have disappeared from the 2D-view toolbar.

2. I have a message error saying that it is not possible to save the workspace (post process). Does someone else also got this problem? Can it be due to a Java problem or similar? Any tips?

In the worst case I will change back to the previous version...

hi,

for the fisrt point

it is true, we have a new icone "compute assemeents" for for computing discharge through a section. Now, you can calculated flowrate with a any position of section only if you choose "vector calculation".

You must choice only a vector variable. For flowtrace, you generared two new variables u*h et v*h, after you make the new vector with two components along x = u*h and along y = v*h.
You can generated also the results curve in time for your flowrate.

Before, if your vector is not perpendicular to your section the value of flowrate was slightly false


for the second point

What is operating system ?

If you have a big study (a lot of nodes), it's possible that you must run fudaa-prepro with a big memory for java (option : -Xmx3000M)

for exemple to run fudaa-prepro : java -jar -Xmx3000M *.jar

On the first point, can we hope to have quite soon an updated version of the user manual?
On the second point, I indeed succeeded yesterday to save a workspace. The problem I encountered might have been due to the fact that I was working with an old map structure or other problem. I am on Win7 64bit and the models I work with now are not especially big (less than 100 000 elements).

I will try the new way for computing discharge, but once more, clear guidelines would be more than welcome

the update of fudaa documentation, it's really a problem (maillon faible). It is not expected in the near future.

for the second point, I think that it's not a problem of java memory

I think that it is great to be able to use programs such as Telemac with open source pre-post processors (thank you for your work and thank you to your funds...!), but I also think that it can be hard sometimes to find its way without proper documentation. At least for the basics. And especially when a function changes when a new version is released...

Now I am stucked
I am just trying to export a hydrograph, and I try to follow the indications you gave previously, but I can't figure out how to calculate the hydrograph itself.

I have create a new vector variable = sqrt((u*h)^2+(v*h)^2), I plot it along my profile for the given time steps, but I don't know what is the next step for computing the hydrograph. I had a look at the new "Compute assessments" button, but i only can compute parameters for a single time step, right?

Could you please indicate step by step what is the method to follow to calculate a hydrograph from u, v and h?

Hi again,

must first create the two components of the vector that you want to build.

Go to this menu POST / filename / Edit variables

1 - Build the two components
2 - build the new vector with two new components

Then, you can calculate your flowrate and after create your temporal profil

OK, I finally found the button for creating a vector. This is done. But now, I am really sorry but I can't find which menus/tools/icons using for computing flowrate and hydrograph.
