hi,
I want to know if we could generate a mesh with Matiss by only (XY) files , means my Z always zero (Z=0)???
because I tried to do it, then I get this message "Le nombre de points estimé est 0" !!
so is it due to the bathymetry wich didn't existe. should I have Z as real nomber, like X and Y ?
Thanks for responding me
Souria :)

Hi Souria

I think that you can generate mesh by adding a z column which is put equal to 0. Then you proceed as usual.

Hi Souria,

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if you have an ASCII file with 2 columns of data (either whitespace or comma delimited) you can create a delaunay triangulation with Blue Kenue.
1. Set the file extension to "xyz",
2. Load this data into Blue Kenue "File->Open" use filetype "PointSets (*.pt2,*.xyz,*.pcl)",
3. Create a new Triangulation object "File->New->Triangulation...",
4. In the WorkSpace drag the pointSet onto the "new Triangulation",
5. Push the "Triangulate" button.

And you're done.

Could you post the first 10 lines of the file, so we can see the format?

The mesher documentation starts on page 135 of the manual.

Can you explain a bit more the "Blue Kenue doesn't recognize the xyz extension"??
What is the error message???

What do you mean by "ascii file"?
Do you mean a xyz file like :
307129.68519212 7676731.03382066 315.00000000
310789.38774212 7676773.11982190 66.10000000

If yes, you have to change the extension of your file by ".xyz"
Example :
old file : mydata.txt
new file : mydata.xyz

Then open BlueKenue, and choose "File"->"Open" then select "Points Sets (*.pt2, *.xyz, *.pcl)" and finally open your file.

After that you just have to click and drag your layout in "Data Items" to a view that you selected (default : "2D View").
